Chess Month!
This month we did a lot of chess. We went to Minneapolis (Nationals Middle school), I will talk about that first then we went to state chess, I will talk about that second.
This month I
went to Minnesota and I had a lot of fun (it wasn’t all about chess).
What should I start with… Well we should always start with the food. The
food at Minnesota isn’t all that different there than here. Though one
restaurant was called Mickey mini car, something like that and it was
really interesting. The whole restaurant
is in a trailer and it is very famous for the outside view that it
attracted many famous people just like us to go there. The food in there
was mostly breakfast food but with some French fries and burgers.
Another restaurant we went to was called Hell’s kitchen. Inside is
really funny and the bathroom gets creepy. On one wall with high
cushioned chairs it said something like this. These are the worst
chairs in the restaurant. First you have to climb into them. Second
everyone is watching you .Third our whole staff is running past here.
That is all I remember, Pretty funny huh? Food isn’t the only reason why
I went to Minneapolis. There is chess and lots of fun. I will talk about
the fun first. Well getting our car was really cool because it turned
out to be gold car that looked great when the sun looked at it. Then we
went to St. Paul half way through and it was an awesome trip because St.
Paul has a beautiful church and right across it is the state capital. We
were able to get a tour and if you get a picture of the capital you will
see some horses and gods up there that are all painted gold. Each one
symbolizes an object. I forgot though. The cool thing is that I actually
got to be up there with them. We pretty much got a tour of the whole
entire place, from the governor meeting room to where the democracy
votes on things. That was a lot of fun. Inside the church I talked about
earlier, inside was really beautiful, It had interesting windows which
each one telling its very own story. The windows had different shades of
each color, Blue, green, red etc. Some windows had some quotes talking
about Jesus and life and
death. In the middle there were many rows of chairs. That was what the
church look liked. That was pretty cool. Next to this beautiful church
was a neighborhood filled with famous people. Some that are still alive
and the others are at rest in the sky. We got to look in some of the
houses but not all. That neighborhood also had many beautiful houses.
I guess I have to talk about the chess. Well the chess, I didn’t do very well in it. 3.5 out of 7 for the main tournament and 7 out of 12 in blitz. Some games were kind of short and some were long, but I had a really long one. 4 hours, in the end… a draw. It is kind of sad thinking that I was playing chess for four hours and it turns out that it became a draw.
Then at WA state championships I had really high marks. I played in a tournament called bughouse before the main tournament. In bughouse you have to have 2 people as a team and my partner, an old friend of mine, Daniel Gordon. We got first place together and then in the main tournament I got 5 points out of 5, so I am tied for first in 5th grade in the state! My team got third place overall too! I worked really hard for it and my mom says that I deserve it. I feel very happy about my result.

Minnesota
tournament We jumped on a airplane to got to Minnesota indianapples
like always the flight was always boring so we got so bored that we fell
asleep. When I woke up we were already there so we got out of the
airport a liitle later we checked into our hotel and went to sleep.
The
next day we went exploring then we had a blitz tournament me and yoyo
didn't do the greatest but yoyo was close to getting a trophy but he
didn't make it. The next day was the real tournament the first day I
lost won and won the lost was from dropping a queen. On the second day I
won three games and the third day I only got a half I think this was on
of the hardest tournaments I ever played in but we still came out trophy
less. The greatest places we went were: the capital, some museum about
mills and a water fall.
I am going to tell you another story this month and it is called: "the brothers who have 4 point in the 4th round". We jumped out of the car to see the place called tocoma we checked in the hotel then went and played a bughouse tournament my partner was Emmanuel and my brothers partner was Daniel. In the last round my brother had took the first place and I didn't do the so good. In the morning it was the real tournament the first game I was down a pawn but then he droped rook. The second game my opponent dropped a piece. The third round my opponent played badly and lost. The fourth round my opponent lost in a fork. The interesting right now was that me and yoyo had won all the games so far so if one of us wins he will tie for first. My brothers opponent drooped a piece so yoyo tied for first. I was losing by rook and a pawn but my opponent dropped a piece back so we agreed to a drawing the end yoyo got 4th and I got 6th.
I think this month was very chess like and that how I like it.
